- Know Times of High Risk. Friday afternoons have proven to be the most dangerous time period of Memorial Day Weekend. Individuals are getting off of work excited for the holiday, but can be worn out from the week. There is a higher volume of traffic with people leaving from work to their vacation destinations. - Stretch Breaks. Moving your legs and walking around every couple of hours will help you stay awake and alert on the roadways.
