The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that erratic driving resulted in a police chase down Patterson Avenue in Henrico yesterday afternoon.

The chase began when an officer stopped a westbound vehicle for running a red light at Patterson Avenue and North Parham Road. The driver stopped only momentarily before accelerating away from the scene of the stop.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the chase. While no charges have yet to be filed, the driver was taken to a hospital for blood-alcohol testing and a psychiatric evaluation.

To keep roadways safe, police officers in Virginia are trained to spot erratic drivers before an accident or injury occurs. Erratic driving can include: speeds that are either too fast or too slow; sudden/inexplicable stopping and starting; failure to maintain one’s lane; failure to adhere to traffic signs/signals; illegal turns and/or driving on unauthorized roads; and other such dangerous forms of motor vehicle operation.

Erratic drivers pose a danger not only to themselves, but everyone else around them. If you or a loved one are injured by an erratic driver, contact the experienced personal injury attorneys at ReidGoodwin today to schedule a legal evaluation.
